Benefits of Joining the International Bonhoeffer Society

Benefits of Joining

When you become an IBS-ELS member, you join scholars, clergy, and lay people from the United States, Canada, South Africa, the United Kingdom, Australia, New Zealand, and beyond, all dedicated to the study of Dietrich Bonhoeffer. Your participation strengthens the field, advances the invaluable work of the community, and enriches the conversation about Bonhoeffer’s life and legacy. In our fraught world, Dietrich Bonhoeffer’s call to do “justice among human beings” is more important now than ever.

As a member, you receive access to the latest scholarship, resources, and announcements as well as invitations to events, both in-person and online.

“Our church has been fighting during these years only for its self-preservation, as if that were an end in itself. It has become incapable of bringing the word of reconciliation and redemption to humankind and to the world. So the words we used before must lose their power, be silenced, and we can be Christians today in only two ways, through prayer and in doing justice among human beings” (Dietrich Bonhoeffer, Letters and Papers from Prison, DBWE 8:389).

The English Language Section is dedicated to advancing the theology and legacy of German pastor-theologian and Nazi resister, Dietrich Bonhoeffer, in the academy, church, and world, and has been on the forefront of this work for the last fifty years.
