In The Battle for Bonhoeffer: Debating Discipleship in the Age of Trump (Eerdmans 2018), Stephen Haynes explored how Bonhoeffer’s legacy was being co-opted by popularizers who had little understanding of Bonhoeffer’s theology or historical context. In this presentation, Haynes will update “the battle for Bonhoeffer” with attention to recent books and films that argue America must lurch rightward to avoid repeating the mistakes made by Germans in the 1930s.
