Eleanor Neel with Renate Bethge (AAR in the 1980s)

Eleanor Neel (November 27, 1930 – January 26, 2024) was an avid reader of Dietrich Bonhoeffer and an active member of the International Bonhoeffer Society – English Language Section for many years. One of the IBS-ELS ‘nons,’ as described by Alice Bond, Eleanor was a non-academic/professional theologian, non-pastor who did the work (research) and presented on Bonhoeffer all over the world, was elected to the Board of Directors, and, most recently, was invited to participate in the IBS-ELS Board of Directors’ Strategic Planning Retreat in 2016 in San Antonio, TX. Eleanor Neel was a professional vocalist and performed with choirs and quartets across the country.

A memorial service will be held on Thursday, March 14, 3:00 pm, at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church in  Fayetteville, Arkansas. Arrangements are by Moore’s Chapel. No flowers please; memorials may be made to Friends of Music, c/o St. Paul’s Episcopal Church, 224 N. East Avenue, Fayetteville, AR, 72701.
