Conversing with Dietrich Bonhoeffer: Discipleship, Ecclesiology, and Ecumenism

Dr. Cole Jodon

Please join the International Bonhoeffer Society – English Language Section for a virtual event focusing on the ecumenical theology of Dietrich Bonhoeffer. The event will feature a presentation by Dr. Cole Jodon on his recent monograph, Discipleship and Unity: Bonhoeffer’s Ecumenical Theology, guided discussion on the topics of discipleship, ecclesiology, ecumenism, and the move within Bonhoeffer scholarship towards constructive methodological approaches to his theology, and time for Q & A.

Discipleship and Unity provides a systematic treatment of Bonhoeffer’s ecumenical theology. Building constructively from Bonhoeffer’s thought, Jodon offers an account of ecumenism in which the church is understood to be united as the person of Christ – a unity that is concrete today through active obedient discipleship.

It is not necessary to have read the book before the event. Those interested in purchasing the book may use the code below to receive a 30% discount.

Cole Jodon has provided the first systematic treatment of Bonhoeffer’s rich ecumenical theology, tracing the complex ways in which this theology is bound up with a conception of church as the presence of Christ. This is an important book that should be read and studied carefully by all those with interests in Bonhoeffer or commitments to Christian unity.
